Butchart Gardens April 15, 2009

Hooray, tulip time is firing up at Butchart's.

There were lots of hyacinths too.

We went near suppertime and it turned out to be a good time to visit because hardly anyone was there. It reminded me of the flukey afternoon in July when we had the place nearly to ourselves.

For a while we saw no people but these dogs were waiting for someone.

I don't know what these furry purple flowers are but I think they're quite photogenic. Update: I'm told this is the pasque flower, provincial flower of Manitoba and state flower of South Dakota.

If the white lily is a White Fawn, it stands to reason that this is a Pink Fawn Lily. These were in the Japanese Garden.

We have only a few days left on our yearly passes.

  1. Kate, great photos usual. I'll bet the hyacinth smelled heavenly. It looks like a sea of purple and white.

  2. Yes. Give it another few weeks and it should be really spectacular out there.
