New inside the entrance are these steel sculptures by a fellow from Penticton. I'd much rather see this trio in front of the arena than the heap of junk there masquerading as a sculpture.

Wisteria is blooming in the inside garden. I didn't get a photo as they weren't very photogenic so I took more of the pink tree blossoms instead.

Out we go to the Japanese garden. What in tarnation is this? Some sort of lettuce-y lichen? Moss? Fern? Is it, in fact,
lung lichen? (I don't know. I just wanted an excuse to try the link function "R" told me about.)

I don't know what these tiny dark purple and yellow flowers are either, but Butchart's has a handy service - if no gardeners are available, as they weren't today, you can fill out a form describing the plant and they will supposedly call or email back within the week with an answer.

More attractive were these tiny pink flowers growing outside in the flower beds. See if you can spot the little spider above the centre (click on picture to enlarge). I would have had a smashing crocus picture if only I'd taken a moment to focus properly.
The link worked perfectly!
ReplyDeleteA sculptor from Penticton? I wonder if my mom bought her garden sculpture from the same guy? The style looks similar...
Here in Istanbul, tulip leaves are sprouting up everywhere.... just a few more weeks now and the whole place will be a riot of colour, and we need it after the months of grey drizzly rain.
His name is Lawrence Cormier, originally from Regina. Has a B&B apparently.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be a while for our tulips. :-(
