Glenn managed to walk a little with his walker but later in the afternoon we decided to try the wheelchair we had on loan from the Red Cross. I pushed him along the inner harbour walkway past Laurel Point. Glenn didn't much care for all the cracks in the sidewalks making for a bumpy ride, but otherwise it was an enjoyable outing. The sun was shining, the water was sparkling and autumn crocus were blooming.
In the neighbourhood we came across a London black cab and talked to the owner. The back seat had a surprising amount of space. The owner figured the wheelchair might even fit in there. 'Come back in a couple of weeks,' he said, 'and I'll take you out for a spin.' Sadly, this would never happen. We didn't know that this was the last walk Glenn and I would ever take together.
