Butchart Gardens August 26, 2011

It's the time of year for dahlias.

In the summertime there is a gelato stand in the Italian Garden. I never get any because it costs too much.

I'm reluctant to include these last four lousy pictures but they were what was growing there. If I ever get a decent photo of the tree above, which sits at the top of the Japanese garden, it will be cause for celebration.

One of our favourite things on the menu at the Blue Poppy restaurant this summer were salmon cakes.

Butchart Gardens September 9, 2010

We're starting to see that soft, autumn light.

It's dahlia time.

A 'snail.'

Gladiolus (this surpises me) Acidanthera. Don't ask me the name of this plant in an hour because I'll have forgotten.

Ditto the 'Rudbeckia Nitida.'
