Government House January 10, 2012

Snowdrops were up but the snow was yet to come.

I must stop taking pictures of witch hazel, but it does add some welcome colour to a winter garden.

Most of the colour was from berries.

I had a little picnic in the gazebo.

Government House January 13, 2011

Snowdrops are up! I could be wrong, but it seems a little earlier than in recent years.

Most of the gardens are rather dormant looking.

But I did find small pink blossoms on a tree!

Snowdrops

No wonder Victoria's flower count is postponed to March this year. We had a dusting of snow last week... and today someone remarked that spring is cancelled. Snowdrops seem later than usual but are finally out all around town (batch in photo below along Mt. Newton X Road). Some crocus and daffodils blooms are appearing, and the Indian Plum is coming into leaf, despite the cold weather.
